Most simply put, works on the idea that the singing voice is an extension of the speaking voice.Vocal Instruction We sing with the same comfort that one enjoys when talking. This is not to say that singing is talking, but rather that we can sing high notes with intensity and not feel like we have laryngitis afterward.
Speech Level Singing focuses on achieving a stable larynx and the vocal cords staying closed to achieve a powerful sound without straining the voice. As singers, we have the ability to manipulate the resonance space which, when done properly will enable the voice to sail over an orchestra.
The exercises are designed to balance the voice. Once proper balance is acheieved we then begin to sing into it allowing for maximum power and no strain. Vocal bridges (sometimes called the passagio) are the areas of the voice that blend between head and chest voice. When singing through the bridges(i.e. singing from low notes to high notes or vice versa) each note requires a specific blend of head and chest voice.
The method focuses on vocal technique rather than what to sing, so it can be applied to any style of music.
